The Tai Chi Association of Colorado Springs has been serving the Southern Colorado community since December 1999, providing traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan instruction in a welcoming environment for students of all experience levels.
The school is led by Sifu Michael Paler, a 7th-generation practitioner in the Yang Family Tai Chi lineage with more than three decades of experience in the art. His training includes direct study within the Wang Yongquan–Wei Shuren branch of Yang Family Tai Chi, a tradition emphasizing the internal principles and methods transmitted through Yang Jianhou.
Our approach to Tai Chi goes far beyond simply memorizing a sequence of movements. Students learn the fundamental principles, body mechanics, structure, relaxation, balance, coordination, and whole-body movement that give Tai Chi its unique character. Beginning students develop a strong foundation upon which the deeper aspects of the art can gradually be built.
The school offers daily classes as well as regularly scheduled workshops, weekend intensives, retreats, and opportunities for more focused study. Our progressive curriculum includes traditional Yang Tai Chi forms, internal training, push hands, martial applications, and traditional weapons for students wishing to pursue the art in greater depth.
For students unable to attend locally—or those who would like additional instruction between classes—we also offer comprehensive online Tai Chi training. Our online courses provide clear, step-by-step instruction and allow students to study and review the curriculum at their own pace.
Whether your interest is health and relaxation, improved balance and mobility, the martial aspects of Tai Chi, or an in-depth study of the traditional art, our goal is to provide a clear and progressive path that students can continue exploring throughout a lifetime of practice.
